How points and rewards syncing works

Complete guide to understanding how points and rewards syncing works in My10x

Overview of Points Syncing

My10x connects to your financial institutions to automatically update your rewards balances. Understanding how this works helps set proper expectations.

How Automatic Syncing Works

Initial Connection

  1. You authorize My10x to access your account
  2. Bank shares card and rewards data
  3. Initial sync can take 24-48 hours
  4. All eligible programs import

Regular Updates

  • Most banks update every 24-48 hours
  • Not real-time updates
  • Pending transactions may not show
  • Statement close triggers updates

Banks That DO Sync Points

Full Sync Support

  • Chase: Ultimate Rewards (mostly)
  • American Express: Membership Rewards
  • Citi: ThankYou Points (when working)
  • US Bank: Most programs
  • Wells Fargo: Rewards programs

Partial Sync Support

  • Chase: Issues with Marriott/Southwest
  • Amex: Some cobrand cards
  • Others: Varies by program

Banks That DON'T Sync Points

These require manual updates:

  • Capital One: All rewards
  • Bank of America: All programs
  • Barclays: Most programs
  • Discover: Cashback tracking
  • Many credit unions

Understanding Sync Delays

Normal Processing Times

  • New transactions: 1-3 days
  • Statement posting: 24-48 hours
  • Bonus posting: Varies widely
  • Transfer completion: 1-7 days

Why Delays Occur

  • Bank processing schedules
  • Weekend/holiday delays
  • System maintenance
  • Data refresh cycles

Points vs. Account Balance

Important distinction:

  • Points: Rewards balance only
  • Balance: Money owed (not tracked)
  • Available credit: Not displayed
  • Pending points: May not show

Troubleshooting Sync Issues

Points Not Updating

  1. Verify bank supports sync
  2. Check connection status
  3. Confirm primary cardholder
  4. Wait full 48 hours
  5. Refresh connection

Wrong Point Balance

  • Check for duplicate cards
  • Verify no hidden cards counted
  • Compare to bank website
  • Note pending vs posted

Manual Override Options

When automatic fails:

  • Convert to manual tracking
  • Update periodically yourself
  • More control but more work
  • Set reminder schedule

Best Practices

For Reliable Syncing

  • Maintain active connections
  • Address errors promptly
  • Update bank passwords carefully
  • Check monthly minimum

Setting Expectations

  • Not real-time system
  • Daily updates typical
  • Some banks never sync
  • Manual backup always option

Special Situations

Authorized User Cards

  • Points belong to primary
  • Won't sync to AU account
  • Shows card but not points

Business vs Personal

  • May need separate connections
  • Different sync schedules
  • Some business excluded
