Using the Redemption Tracker

Complete guide to using the Redemption Tracker for monitoring points and miles value

What is the Redemption Tracker?

Track your points and miles redemptions to calculate value and optimize future redemptions. Monitor cash savings and cents per point (CPP) values.

Getting Started

Accessing the Tool

  1. Navigate to Redemption Tracker in sidebar
  2. Click + New Redemption
  3. Choose redemption type

Types of Redemptions

  • Flights: Track award flights
  • Hotels: Points bookings
  • Cash Bookings: Portal/statement credits
  • Other: Gift cards, transfers, etc.

Recording Flight Redemptions

Important: One-Way Entries

Enter each direction separately:

  • Outbound flight = one entry
  • Return flight = second entry
  • Allows accurate tracking

Required Information

  • Airline and flight details
  • Points used
  • Cash value (ticket price)
  • Taxes/fees paid
  • Class of service

Tracking Hotel Redemptions

Information Needed

  • Hotel chain and property
  • Points per night
  • Cash rate for same dates
  • Number of nights
  • Any resort fees

Calculating Value

System automatically calculates:

  • Total cash value saved
  • Cents per point achieved
  • Comparison to typical values

Portal Bookings Workaround

Portal booking tracking coming soon. Current workaround:

  1. Select Cash Booking
  2. Enter points used in notes
  3. Put points value as 'cash value'
  4. Explain portal used in description

Understanding CPP Values

Good CPP Benchmarks

  • Chase UR: 1.5-2.0+ cpp
  • Amex MR: 1.5-2.0+ cpp
  • Airlines: 1.2-4.0+ cpp
  • Hotels: 0.4-0.8+ cpp

Factors Affecting Value

  • Cabin class (premium = higher)
  • Advance booking vs last minute
  • Peak vs off-peak travel
  • Transfer partners used

Editing Redemptions

  1. Find redemption in list
  2. Click three dots (⋮)
  3. Select Edit
  4. Update information
  5. Save changes

Filtering and Sorting

  • Filter by program
  • Sort by CPP value
  • View by date range
  • Export data

  • Enter redemptions promptly
  • Use actual cash prices
  • Include all fees
