Overview

The Companion Pass Tracker helps you qualify for Southwest's Companion Pass through strategic credit card applications and spending.

Before You Start

Requirements

  • You must not currently have Companion Pass
  • You need to be under 5/24 for Chase cards
  • Plan to apply for 2 Southwest cards
  • Ready to meet minimum spend requirements

Important Timing

  • The tool is for earning CP going forward
  • You must wait 30 days between card applications
  • All spending must be completed in the calendar year

Step-by-Step Process

Step 1: Add Your First Southwest Card

  1. Apply for your first Southwest card through the tool
  2. Once approved, add it to My Wallet
  3. The tracker will recognize the card
  4. You can now proceed to Step 2

Step 2: Wait 30 Days

Chase requires 30 days between applications. The tracker enforces this.

Step 3: Apply for Second Card

  1. After 30 days, apply for your second Southwest card
  2. Add it to My Wallet once approved
  3. Update both cards with approval dates

Step 4: Track Minimum Spend

For each card:

  1. Click the three dots (⋮) on the card
  2. Select Edit
  3. Enter your minimum spend deadline
  4. Check 'Welcome Bonus Received' when complete
  5. Enter the date you met the spend

Common Issues

Can't Progress Past Step 1

  • Ensure your Southwest card is in My Wallet
  • Card must be marked as Open
  • Try refreshing your browser
  • Wait a few minutes for system to update

Already Have a Southwest Card

The tool is designed for new CP qualification. If you have an existing Southwest card:

  • You may need to wait for eligibility
  • Check Southwest's rules on bonus eligibility
  • Consider business vs personal options

Tracker Not Recognizing Progress

Ensure you've:

  • Added both cards to My Wallet
  • Marked bonuses as received
  • Entered all required dates
  • Set correct cardholder status

After Earning Companion Pass

Once you've earned CP:

  • The tracker will show completion
  • Add your companion on Southwest.com
